Dixon
A call came in about a young dog with a broken jaw. We went to see him and he just sat there and wagged his tail. It took many weeks but Dixon was finally on the mend. He was such a good puppy. He never complained or whined. He went through each surgery and hospitalization like it was something new and exciting. Each new jaw brace was custom designed just for him. The first week he got his brace off everyone in the rescue wanted a kiss. We were all thrilled. We werent sure if Dixon's foster family would let him go but when the perfect application came in everything fell into place. Though there were tons of tears and she still talks about Dixon. But we know he is a happy boy and in the family where he belongs.
Albert
Oh No.. what do we do? Who would want a 6 year old poodle with no teeth? But we were his last chance and we couldnt leave him there. So Albert.. or Al B as he was called went in the car. He was the cutest thing. A big grey puff ball. But once we got him home we realized he had to be shaved down. Then once all his teeth were pulled his little tongue stuck out. So we waited for someone that would love Al B... and we waited. Finally by luck we were WRAL Pet of the Day and Al B was chosen. Phone calls poored in and as the foster mom listened to all the messages there was one that she just knew sounded good. She called them all back and left messages but only one called back. So after a couple of meetings Al B went to the home and fit right in with the other tiny poodle. It was all meant to be.
Jolene
Jolene is a Lhasa Apso. She is everything a Lhasa is supposed to be. So when she found herself a the shelter she wasnt on her best behavior and she wasnt put on the floor for adoption. When we walked through we looked at her several times before finally deciding to take a chance on her. We couldnt be happier that we did. Jolene was just a Lhasa. Yep when she doesnt know you and you go to vaccinate her she will growl. That is just her but otherwise she is the sweetest girl in the world..basically she is a Lhasa.
Mary Tyler
Mary Tyler had escaped from her home and had been hit by a car. Her family was unable to pay for her care and had turned her over to the shelter. We were contacted by the shelter. We rushed right down because we had no idea what shape she was in. They handed her over in a blanket and she just moaned and shook. As we drove to our vet we were wondering what to name her and if she would pull through. Then she pooped her head up and gave us a kiss. So she became Mary Tyler because it looked like she would make it after all. Once Mary Tyler was doing better we did contact her original owner to see if they wanted to visit with her and work out a payment plan. They did visit with her once but we never did hear from them again. We waited two weeks and then found Mary Tyler the family she deserved.
Duke & Carolina
Duke and Carolina were a packaged deal. Both had traveled together from out west to be abandoned at the shelter. Carolina's ears were so bad that she needed surgery immediately. They were the most loving funny little dogs. Though we received many applications to split them up we just couldnt do that to them. Then finally the day arrived when an application for both of them came in from the perfect couple! Of course their names have been changed because Duke and Carolina could never live together in a home :)
